The Bearcat Discovery Center was created in 1993 to provide before and after school care to Union Hill students. The child development center, open year-round, host to several programs, providing exceptional services to families with children 3 years through eighth grade.
The Bearcat Discovery Center currently offers preschool and before and after school care as well as summer programs.
The Center operates without discrimination and provides equal treatment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry or abilities.
Differently-abled children are welcome to enroll in the program should our program meet their developmental needs. Parents are expected to seek all available support for their child, such as assessments, screenings, and therapeutic interventions. Parents should also provide the child’s history along with individualized family or educational services plan to the Center and its staff. Inclusion support will be required when providing extra staff to assist a child with special needs places an undue burden on the Center.
While the District takes every measure to secure outside funding to support the program, the Center must be self-supporting. It is essential that participating parents understand that decisions regarding the operation of the program are made not only to serve families, but are also based upon a self-sufficient budget.
